A deficit in self-care among these women contributes to the development of precancerous lesions associated with CC, potentially leading to increased incidence and mortality rates. Therefore, the objective of this study is to report a case of Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia Grade 1 (CIN1), highlighting its implications and the correlation with self-care deficits identified in the patient's clinical and medical history. METHODOLOGY: This research adopts a qualitative approach through a clinical case study involving a 51-year-old woman diagnosed with a precursor lesion of cervical cancer. The analysis is grounded in Orem's self-care deficit theory, involving the identification of categories and reflective interpretation of collected data. Data were gathered through nursing consultations and medical record analysis. RESULTS: The results identify self-care requisites and self-care deficits based on the nursing diagnosis, such as: Prevention (Screening through Cytopathological Examination) - Failure to undergo preventive exams at the recommended frequency; Risk Prevention - Non-use of alcohol and tobacco - Engages in abusive alcohol consumption (alcohol dependence); Genetic Predisposition - Family history of cancer cases, including a sibling. Eight self-care deficits were detected, some of which include: Ineffective health maintenance, Risk of impaired liver function, Self-care deficit, and Self-neglect in a patient diagnosed with CIN grade I, evidenced by lack of adherence to preventive exams, discontinuity in treatment, and lack of knowledge about preventive practices, exacerbated by alcohol consumption. CONCLUSIONS: The lack of awareness regarding the importance of the Pap smear test and its implications for the early detection of cervical cancer underscores the need for educational strategies and individualized follow-up to promote preventive practices and reduce future vulnerabilities. Dorothea Orem's theory was utilized to assess and plan personalized interventions, fostering autonomy in care. This study reinforces the importance of theoretical models in nursing to systematize care and enhance the quality of interventions. Moreover, it contributes to the advancement of nursing science by exploring the impact of alcoholism and knowledge deficits, encouraging research on effective strategies to improve self-care and treatment adherence in vulnerable populations.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Neoplasias de colo de útero; Displasia intraepitelial cervical; Teoria de enfermagem; Atenção primária à saúde; Deficit do autocuidado.Cervical cancer; Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia; Nursing theory; Primary health care; Self-care deficit.Déficit no autocuidado que contribuem para o diagnóstico de lesão precursora do câncer cervicalbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ENFERMAGEM::ENFERMAGEM DE SAUDE PUBLICA
