Condição periodontal e de higiene bucal de pacientes reabilitados com prótese parcial fixa: acompanhamento longitudinal. 2015. Monografia (Graduação) - Departamento de Odontologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2015https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/39309The aim of this study was to assess the longitudinal periodontal condition and the level of oral hygiene in patients rehabilitated with Fixed Partial Denture (FPD). Fifteen patients were evaluated at the cementation of single crowns and three months after. They were checked Plaque Index (PI), Probing Pocket Depth (PPD), Gingival Index (GI), presence of cervical maladjustment, the type of the material used, and periodontal clinical findings. In addition, periapical radiographs were taken in all abutment teeth in the two periods studied. The results showed an increase of IPV, ISG, PS and bone resorption after 3 months of installation of crowns (p <0.005). It was also observed the presence of 27.3% of crowns with cervical maladjustment at the time of installation of the prosthesis, and three months later. There was no statistically significant association (p> 0.005) between cervical misfit with biofilm formation on the abutment tooth, change of periodontal clinical features and the presence of bone resorption. According to these records, there is a need for regular maintenance and greater attention from the patients to the hygiene methods for controlling biofilm. Besides, there is a need of a more careful criteria related to the prosthesis confection because cervical mismatches favor the biofilm accumulation on the surface of the abutment teeth.openAccessPeriodontiaPrótese Parcial FixaHigiene BucalCondição periodontal e de higiene bucal de pacientes reabilitados com prótese parcial fixa: acompanhamento longitudinalbachelorThesis
