The main objective of this work is to evaluate the changes that occurred in the import coefficients for Brazil and the impact that this has brought to the Brazilian economy, especially with regard to imports and its relation with final demand, since with the globalization of production, countries have had numerous challenges in relation to external policies and within social accounting, imports have had their revised role in relation to their contributions to economic growth. Thus, we analyzed the determinants of the variation of imports through structural decomposition, as well as the impacts of changes in the coefficients in the total demand for imports, we also performed an analysis of the import coefficients for intermediate consumption. From this, we can verify that the import coefficients have their greatest value in the year 2015, also occurring a structural change in relation to the determinants of the variations in the imports, and that the consumption plays an important role with regard to the imports decomposed by component of final demand.
