Methodology: The research it is a ecological study of prevalence with quantitative descriptive retrospective cut, in order to compare mortality due to respiratory causes in Brazil and its regions - North, Northeast, Southeast, South and Midwest - from 2000 to 2012. The data were analyzed obtained by DATASUS / 2016. Results: Mortality from respiratory diseases is increasing with the years in all regions of Brazil - North, Northeast, South, Southeast and Midwest, with emphasis on the South and Southeast. Discussion: Our study showed increased mortality from respiratory causes in Brazil and its regions in the period 2000 to 2012, and other studies have obtained similar results. These results can be explained by several factors, including the circulation of other respiratory viruses (respiratory union, parainfluenza, adenovirus) after 2002, the precocity of the circulation of influenza A in 2004 and the influence of environmental factors (pollution and low temperatures). Conclusion: Based on these results it is necessary to emphasize the importance of public health campaigns aimed at professional health education of the population in order to minimize the morbidity and mortality rates of the respiratory system diseases, as well as the decrease in hospital admissions and welfare costs for the National Health System.openAccessDoença do aparelho respiratório, mortalidade, Influenza Aviária.Respiratory Diseases, Mortality, Influenza in Birds.Mortalidade por doenças respiratórias no Brasil e suas regiões: série histórica 2000 – 2013Mortality From Respitatory Diseases in Brazil and Its Tegions: Time Series 2000 - 2013postGraduateThesis
