Dissertação (Mestrado em Ciências da Saúde) - Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2012.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/jspui/handle/123456789/26970The aim of this study is focus on the relation between wingspan and myoelectric activation of serratus anterior, brachial triceps, brachial biceps, deltoid anterior and pectoralis major muscles in different intensity, of supine in the para-athletes. It is descriptive cross section, investigative typology and randomized comparative study. The individuals investigated were 17 para-athletes men and all of categories in the population of 55 participants of Circuito Caixa de Halterofilismo Paraolímpico carried out in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, 2011. It was made a test of 50% with a break of 4 minutes and it was repeated with a heavier load in the competition (considered 100%). The wingspan measure was carried out according to the protocol of PROESP-BRA. The electromyography was carried out in the deltoid anterior, triceps, biceps, serratus anterior and pectoralis major muscles, where was verified the analisys by the RMS value, that is, squaring the data obtained in percentage. According to the results, analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied to compare the activation between the muscles analyzed with 50% and 100%. The Pearson relation was used to verify the existence of relationship between the wingspan and muscles activation. The results revealed that the pectoralis major muscle obtained the higher activation in both study 50% as 100%, the deltoid anterior showed as the lower activation when the exercise was carried out with 50%, the biceps brachial low activated with 100% and serratus anterior presented with high interval of confidence (IC95) with the execution of supine in both intensities. Based on the results, it concluded that is a relation of cause and affect between the wingspan and myoelectric activation in the muscles studied to the population investigated, evidencing the importance of wingspan as a natural selection criteria in para-athletes of supine.Acesso AbertoPessoa com deficiênciaEnvergaduraForçaHalterofilismoParaolímpicoAtivação mioelétricaAtletas paraolímpicos do Rio Grande do NortemasterThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE
