Moreover, it is noteworthy its relevance to younger people, since many of them already face decisions related to money and are consumers of financial products and services. Therefore, in view of the above, the present work aims to identify the level of knowledge in financial education of students attending the last year of high school in two state schools in the municipality of Currais Novos/RN. The methodology used was through the elaboration of a qualitatively structured questionnaire, composed of 20 questions with the intention of analyzing the degree of familiarity and understanding of the respondents with issues related to the theme. As far as the analysis of the results is concerned, the MannWhitney non-parametric test was used, which served as a basis to answer the hypotheses raised in the study. As a result, the respondents' knowledge index about financial education in general was low, corroborating research and work done on the subject. Regarding the characterization, male students, aged between 18 and 20 years presented greater knowledge on the subject according to the indices identified.
