The present study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the serious game Estoma Game Hospitalar as an educational resource for nursing students. Methodology: This is a quantitative, quasi-experimental study with a pre- and post-test design, conducted in three stages: pre-test application, educational intervention using a serious game, and post-test application. The pre- and post-test instrument was developed based on the book by Santos and Cesaretti (2015) and the educational booklet by Sena (2017), consisting of 12 multiple-choice questions, each with four answer options. The study included 19 nursing students from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Data were collected during the educational intervention and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study was submitted to the Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte and approved under protocol number 61762122.9.0000.5537. Results: The participants were predominantly female, with a mean age of 23.05 years. Among the participants, 18 were enrolled in their eighth semester, and 10 reported having no prior familiarity with the subject matter. A majority of the questions demonstrated an increase in the percentage of correct responses on the post-test compared to the pre-test. The study identified a statistically significant difference (P = 0.006) in the number of correct responses between the pre-test and post-test, underscoring the effectiveness of the game in facilitating learning and reviewing pre- and post-operative stoma care practices.
