The Rio Grande do Norte state (RN) has the largest number of BSB cases in Brazil. The present research aimed to investigate the knowledge of nursing professionals who work in Health Centers of Seridó (Carnaúba dos Dantas and Currais Novos). This was a transversal, exploratory-descriptive research. Results showed that 51% unknown the BSB causes, as well as 69% did not have knowledge concerning the appropriated healthcare that should be offered to these patients.
