Centro de Ensino Superior do Seridó.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/42716The present research intends to analyze the main effects and consequences from the measure of suspension of the employment contract, instituted by Provisional Measure n. 936/2020, converted into Law n. 14.020/2020. This measure was one of the strategies in facing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on labor market which were adopted by Brazilian government. The theme is displayed in a gradual sequence, approaching the definition of the individual employment contract in the national legislation, emphasizing the impacts of new Coronavirus on labor relations. The paper also addresses the main measures published by the government related to the labor law, which have flexibilized workers’ rights due to the risk situation. Finally, the results on the main effects and possible consequences from suspension of the employment contract during the pandemic accordingly to legal innovations are exposed. Methodology consists of bibliographic review under a deductive approach, conducted through observational investigation and analysis of the corresponding legislation. We conclude for the social and juridic relevance of the theme. Suspension of the employment contract has revealed positive repercussions in the pandemic context, especially over society perspectives on the possibility of repetition in adopting the measure by the government.
