Orientador: Marcilio de Souza Vieira. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes, Departamento de Artes, Curso de Licenciatura em Dança, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/55752In this article I seek to convey the importance of wheelchair dancing from a historical perspective, in addition to reporting on Daniel Silva and Jamaica Macedo, two wheelchair dancers from the Movidos a Dança Group, about their experiences with dancing as bodies of people with disabilities. For this endeavor, I used descriptive qualitative research as a methodology with a case study bias. For the case study, we asked structured questions that wheelchair interpreters-creators from the aforementioned group answered via WhatsApp. As an objective, the text aims to reflect on wheelchair dancing from the historical contextualization and the perspective of two wheelchair dancers from the city of Natal who have experience with contemporary dance. We conclude the text with the thought that people with disabilities can occupy the artistic space like any other, that the art/dance of the disabled body is the property of their experiences with the creative process, with disability, with the exclusions suffered and their relationship with the scenic field.
