Drugs are found in aquatic environments worldwide, and Ivermectin (IVM) stands out for its wide veterinary and human use, with an increase in its presence after extensive use during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of a supposed prophylaxis . In the present study, the effect of IVM on the cyanobacteria of the species Sphaerospermopsis torques-reginae (=Anabaena torques-reginae) was tested, with the aim of investigating the influence of IVM on the growth of this cyanobacterium in laboratory cultivation. For this, an experiment was carried out in microcosms, under controlled conditions. Aliquots of a S. torques-reginae culture were inoculated in medium containing concentrations of 0 (control), 0,10, 0,43, 1,8, 7,0, 28,0 and 112,0 µg.L-1 (treatments) of IVM, some commonly found in aquatic ecosystems. All treatments had four replicates, during 15 days of incubation. The growth rate of cyanobacteria in the different treatments was quantified based on the number of cells in the cultures and varied from 0.26 (d-1) in the treatment with the highest concentration of IVM (112 μg.L-1) and 0.41 (d-1) in the control treatment.
