Methodology: the Study was divided in three moments: informed consent signature and initial evaluation, application of the physical exercises protocol for twelve weeks and reevaluation. The normality of the sample was tested using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The descriptive variables are described in percentage and absolute value, the quantitative ones in mean and standard deviation or median and interquartile intervals. Comparison of the variables was performed through paired student t test or Wilcoxon test. The analysis was performed in the program GraphPad Prism, version 5.0, was considered the level of significance of 5%. Results: seven individuals participated in the study, of which 57.15% (n = 4) were female. The mean age presented was 70.13 ± 3.04 years, right ABI 0.88 ± 0.13 and left ABI 0.75 ± 0.21. In the Fontaine classification, 71.42% (n = 5) were classified in stage I, 14.29% (n = 1) in stage III, and 14.29% (n = 1) in stage IV, there were no individuals identified in Stage II, and only 14.29% (n = 1) presented intermittent claudication. When comparing the moments before and after the protocol, the individuals presented significant improvement in FC as shown by the 6MWT (walked distance 312.8 ± 111.1 versus 370.5 ± 146 meters and predicted % 71.38 ± 25.94 versus 84.71 ± 29.770. In the Incremental Shuttle Walking Test (ISWT), Heel Rise Test (HRT) and SF-36 there was no significant improvement between pre and post protocol moments. Conclusion: thus, we observed that the association of a physical exercise protocol in the treatment of subjects with PAOD is able to promote improvements in FC as observed in the 6MWT, ISWT, HRT and SF- 36, however, only the 6MWT had a statistically significant improvement, which can be explained by the small sample size.
