In this way, the history and importance of Banco do Nordeste do Brasil (BNB) and its direct role in financing the region's development were observed. Another important point is the observation of the historical specificities of the Brazilian Northeast region and the context of public policies to serve the region in view of the challenges of its socioeconomic development process. Also starting with an analysis of the flow of resources contracted with resources from the Constitutional Financing Fund of the Northeast (FNE) in the Northeast region with a focus on compliance with the distribution of the fund's resources. To support this work, specific literature on the topic covered, technical reports, academic works and legal examinations were used, in addition to data from credit operations contracted with FNE resources in the period 2010-2022. The analysis provided us with support for understanding how important the Northeast Constitutional Financing Fund (FNE) is for the economy of the Northeast as well as Rio Grande do Norte and how its existence contributes to boosting local economies throughout the region serving the SUDENE and its function as a public policy acting as a driver of regional development.
