Lagoa Nova has significant tourist potential, offering several natural attractions, a unique history, hospitable and welcoming people, with a strong tradition in agriculture, especially in cashew culture, and offers options for trade and tourism support services. Due to its location in the geographic region called Serra de Sant'Ana, one of the coldest areas of the Seridó potiguar region, the municipality's main attraction is the mountainous climate. This factor contributes to the intensification of residential condominiums aimed at the real estate sector, thus strengthening the phenomenon of second home tourism, which expands from properties for occasional use for tourist and leisure purposes. In addition, Lagoa Nova is part of the Geoparque Seridó territory and has two geosites, namely: Geosite Mirante de Santa Rita and Geosite Tanque dos Poscianos, which offer visitors viewpoints with panoramic views of the mountainous landscape of the region. In order to collaborate with the tourism and sustainable development of the municipality, the Tourism Course of the Faculty of Engineering, Literature and Social Sciences of Seridó (FELCS) - Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), through the Extension Program " Qualistur” - Tourism, Professional Qualification and Regional Development of Seridó Potiguar”, supported by the Dean of Extension (Proex), prepared the Inventory of the Tourist Offer, Edition 2022, carried out with the use of a methodology developed by the researchers (teachers and students) from the Research and Tourism Studies Laboratory (LAPET). The Tourism Inventory is the first methodological and technical phase in the field of tourism planning and regional development, to assist municipal public management and entrepreneurs in the productive sector in the elaboration of policies and strategic actions, as well as in decision-making and allocation of resources and investments, based on real information and scientifically verified and proven through theories and research techniques.
