Alterações laboratoriais decorrentes do uso do topiramato e comparativo com alterações existentes nas doenças em tratamento: epilepsia, obesidade e transtorno do uso do álcool – revisão bibliográfica. 2022. 39 f. Monografia (Graduação em Biomedicina) – Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/46700Topiramate (TPM) is an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug used to prevent epileptic seizures, in addition to being used in the treatment of obesity and substance abuse. Both TPM and the diseases treated by it can cause laboratory alterations, and sometimes these findings are confused as to the originating agent. To carry out the bibliographic review, articles were selected on the main academic search platforms, such as diseases and laboratory changes. Several alterations have been established in the literature and range from rare hematological alterations to more frequent alterations, such as alterations in renal and hepatic markers, caused by both the use of TPM and epilepsy, obesity, and alcohol abuse. Finally, the beneficial effects of TPM and the need for its careful and assisted use by health professionals during treatment were highlighted.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/topiramatotopiramatealterações laboratoriaislaboratory alterationsepilepsiaepilepsyálcoolalcoholobesidadeobesityAlterações laboratoriais decorrentes do uso do topiramato e comparativo com alterações existentes nas doenças em tratamento: epilepsia, obesidade e transtorno do uso do álcool – revisão bibliográficaLaboratory results due to the use of topiramate and comparison with existing changes in diseases and treatments: epilepsy, obesity and alcohol use disorder – bibliographic reviewbachelorThesis
