OBJECTIVE: To analyze the relationship between sexual function and sociodemographic characteristics, climacteric symptoms and body image in climacteric women. METHODOLOGY: This is a cross-sectional study, carried out in the city of Santa Cruz/RN, with a sample of 68 women. The inclusion criteria were: (1) women aged between 40 and 65 years old (2) living in the interior of the State (Santa Cruz/RN and neighboring cities) and who (3) agreed to the Informed Consent Form (TCLE). The instruments used were: evaluation form, to collect the obstetric history, urogynecological parameters and sociodemographic data related to the climacteric; Female Sexual Function Index (IFSF); Greene Climatic Scale; Menopause Rating Scale; Body Attitudes Questionnaire (BAQ). Sample characterization was performed using measures of central tendency and Pearson's correlation test was used to analyze the relationship between sexual function and age, climacteric symptoms and body self-image. To analyze the relationship between sexual function and education, the One Way ANOVA with Bonferroni's post hoc was used. RESULTS: No significant relationship was found between age and sexual function in the analyzed sample (r= -0.10; r2= 0.01; p=0.41). When comparing sexual function between different levels of education (complete secondary education x incomplete higher education x complete higher education) no differences were found (F=2.12; p=0.10). However, a relationship was seen in the symptomatology, by MRS, in the worsening of sexual function. CONCLUSION: The study suggests that there is no relationship between sexual function and sociodemographic characteristics and body self-image, but a directly proportional relationship between climacteric symptoms and psychological and urogenital aspects was evident.Attribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/ClimatérioClimactericMulherClimactericFunção sexualWomanRelação entre a função sexual, características sociodemográficas, sintomatologia e imagem corporal em mulheres climatéricasRelationship between sexual function, sociodemographic characteristics, symptomatology and body image in climateric womenbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::FISIOTERAPIA E TERAPIA OCUPACIONAL
