Generation of clean energy has become not only another new way to produce energy, but it has also become a necessity. Countries such as the United States and Australia have been standing out in solar power generation, especially with regard to distributed generation of this type of energy, a term used when such generation is through small plants generally located close to the place of consumption. This work consists in analyzing the advance of distributed generation in Brazil, focusing on photovoltaic solar energy, which began to have notoriety after the publication of Normative Resolution 482/2012 of ANEEL that enabled a growth exponential of this modality. It was analyzed the significant reduction in the cost of implementing such systems, comparing older systems with the more recently deployed ones, as well as their respective economic viability, based on the payback period. Possible changes that may arise with the publication of a new revision of the RN 482, especially with regard to the reduction of part of the energy generated as a form of compensation for the use of infrastructure provided by energy distributors.
