A expansão de objetos técnico-científicos-informacionais na fruticultura irrigada do Nordeste semiárido brasileiro e a sujeição da terra camponesa. Tese (Doutorado em Geografia) - Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/56772The expansion of the use of technical-scientific-informational objects such as inputs and agricultural machinery in irrigated fruit growing in the semi-arid Northeast takes place through the constant evolution of the demands associated with productive agricultural consumption in the countryside. This spatial dynamic is a consequence of changes in the technical bases of Brazilian agriculture since the 1960s, when the technological packages of the Green Revolution were introduced in the sector. In the semiarid region, this expansion was associated with the implementation of public irrigated perimeters in the valleys of the main rivers, taking advantage of the favorable environmental and social conditions for the production of fruits destined for the national and international markets. Currently, several agents, processes and events contribute to the dissemination of these inputs and agricultural machinery in irrigated fruit growing, in order to meet the demands of the agro-industrial sector and peasant agriculture, even if unevenly between agents and subjects and in the territory. From this perspective, the main objective of this thesis is to analyze the expansion of the use of technical-scientificinformational objects as a vector of subjection of peasant income from land to capital in the context of irrigated fruit growing in the Semiarid Northeast. For that, we base ourselves on the theoretical-conceptual propositions of Professor Milton Santos, in particular on the concepts of space and territory (from the notion of uses of the territory) and the categories of analysis territorial division of labor and the dialectic pairs: territory as shelter and as a resource, and territory as norm and norm territory. Additionally, we resort to the contributions of Martins (1990) for a theoretical understanding of the subjection of peasant agriculture to capital within the scope of its reproduction and Oliveira (2007, 2014) when conceptualizing the processes of territorialization of monopoly capital and monopolization of the territory by capital in agriculture. From a methodological point of view, it is worth mentioning the collection and systematization of IBGE data, in particular the 2017 Agricultural Census, in order to understand the distribution of fruit production in Brazil and in the Semiarid Northeast. Such data were also essential for conducting empirical research in the main areas of irrigated fruit production in the region, in the states of Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Pernambuco and Bahia, including conducting interviews with peasant farmers producing irrigated fruit. As a result, we found that the process of expanding the use of technical-scientific-informational objects such as inputs and agricultural machinery is one of the means through which capital appropriates peasant income from land associated with irrigated fruit growing in the Semiarid Northeast. This process, which involves several agents and a territorial base formed by structures that make possible different modes of reproduction in the field, sometimes contradictory and complementary, is mainly associated with the role of middlemen as agents that induce the use of technical objects to be used in production based on the norms and productive standards of fruit according to the international market and on the expanded reproduction of capital in agriculture.
