Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Gestão Pública) - Centro de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2024.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/60566Studies that relate mental health and the work environment are on the rise due to the importance of the consequences of mental illness for society. Amid a competitive and demanding labor market, the intensification of activities and the demand for qualified skills increase workers' stress, highlighting the relevance of Common Mental Disorders (CMD) and the need to seek ways to minimize them. The COVID-19 pandemic further exacerbated the situation, causing growing concerns about mental health at work, with a 25% increase in cases of anxiety and depression in 2021, according to the WHO. Thus, the present work aims to analyze the management of mental health assistance at the 21st Regional Labor Court from the perspective of the employees. The research seeks to identify the main demands and needs of employees regarding mental health in the workplace, as well as to evaluate the policies and practices adopted by the institution to promote mental health. According to the methodological approach, the research is classified as applied, descriptive, and exploratory. The problem was addressed through bibliographic, documentary, and survey research. A questionnaire was sent, composed of three parts: the first part outlined the sociodemographic and occupational profile; the second part comprised the General Health Questionnaire 12 (GHQ-12); and the third part included four open-ended questions about the actions developed by the Court. All ethical principles were respected. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and SPSS, and qualitative data were analyzed using Bardin's content analysis. The study results showed that most participants were between 35 and 54 years old and had been working at the Court for over 10 years. Of the total, 53.6% were female, married or in a stable union, had postgraduate degrees, and predominantly performed administrative activities, in person, in the capital, during the morning period. The application of the GHQ-12 revealed that 41 participants (38.7%) had a low level of psychological well-being deterioration, 31 participants (29.2%) had a medium level, and 34 participants (32.1%) had a high level of deterioration, suggesting the need for immediate interventions. The open-ended questions, which addressed prevention, early detection, treatment, and rehabilitation actions developed by the Court, revealed that most participants were unaware of these initiatives despite their existence. This significant gap between knowledge and action can be attributed to communication failures. It is hoped that the results will help the 21st Regional Labor Court efficiently manage mental health assistance.
