Objective: The objective of this research was to analyze the frequency of the oral manifestations in hematological diseases patients on a medical approach, since the diagnosis of the malignancie, through it’s treatment. Material and methods: This is a retrospective study, with a sample of 43 patients hospitalized during the period of 2021 and 2022 on the Oncohematological department of the Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes, in Rio Grande do Norte. The data research was made based on a formulary and it’s data was transferred to a spread sheet on Microsoft Excel and posterly being analyzed by a statistic program called Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 20.0 version for Windows; SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: On the 43 analyzed patients, male gender was the majority (62,8%) with age between 22 and 84 years. The Non-Hodgkin lymphoma was the more common neoplasm (27.9%). Chemoterapy was the chosen treament on 62.8% of the cases, death occurred on 44.2% of the cases and 72.1% of the patients developted some type of oral alteration, where ulcer (30,2%), followed by candidiasis (25,6%), gingival bleeding (25,6%) and mucositis (23,3%) were the more prevalent. The straight relation of chemoterapy and the presence of oral manifestations can be observed, where 81,2% of the patients who have been exposed to this treatment showed some type of oral manifestation. The correlation of this manifestations and the increase of mortality rate could be observed too, where all of the patients who died, developted some type of oral alteration. Conclusion: The results suggests that oral manifestations were more prevalent on patients with hematological malignancies who had chemotherapy as treatment of choice, reinforcing the need of constant dentist assistance to avoid and prevent that these complications interfere on the patient response to the neoplasic treatment.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Alterações bucaisCuidados oraisNeoplasias malignas hematológicasCirurgião-dentistaAlterações bucais em pacientes portadores de neoplasias malignas hematológicasbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ODONTOLOGIA
