It aimed to understand how the intervention changed the use of space and influenced local tourism dynamics. Through a qualitative approach and case study methodology, semi-structured interviews were conducted with visitors who had experienced the beach before and after the intervention. Semantic analysis of the responses revealed a multiplicity of meanings attributed to the transformation, with assessments ranging from praise for infrastructure improvement to criticism concerning the loss of natural and symbolic elements. Main complaints included the removal of reefs, soft sand, distance from the shoreline, and the lack of public participation in decision-making. Although the increased leisure area was acknowledged, many interviewees reported a sense of artificiality and identity loss.
