The investigate the proposal of environmental education in the critical perspective, to reflect on how the schools of basic education work on environmental issues with the subject, to analyze the importance of teachers' work in mediating educational proposals on the environment and sustainability, examine the documents and regulatory official publications of public policies on environmental education, to demonstrate the evolution of environmental education in the last 40 years explaining the main difficulties and challenges to be overcome by education professionals in general and by that it act pointing education programs environment as the main tool in the conservation and preservation of a sustainable life model for the planet. It refers to the lack of awareness of governments with regard to the environment, and the complexity of issues relating to environmental problems.
