Given the significant relevance of this theme in the current national context, the research problem consists of analyzing the characteristics of the relationship between tourism and socio-environmental conflicts, as well as exploring how mediation can address the challenges in developing tourism activities in protected areas of Amapá. Methodologically, this is a Descriptive-Exploratory Study with a quantitative-qualitative approach. The research locus includes Conservation Units in the State of Amapá where tourism practices take place, with a proposed conflict mediation approach. Techniques included documentary research, literature review, and field studies with exploratory, semi-structured interviews and online surveys involving tourism managers from federal, state, and municipal agencies in Amapá, as well as representatives from traditional communities. Analysis involved the use of graphs and the Likert scale for certain questions. As a result, the Conservation Units in the State of Amapá engaged in tourism practices were identified, with an emphasis on a theoretical and empirical approach to the governance conditions of tourism in these areas. The conflicts associated with tourism were also analyzed, along with the challenges and potential solutions for conflict resolution. It was concluded, therefore, that the application of mediation in resolving socio-environmental conflicts in protected areas proved effective in ensuring the sustainability of tourism activities. This process contributed not only to environmental conservation but also to improving tourism management, enhancing the quality of life of local populations, and stimulating the economy of traditional communities.Acesso AbertoTurismoConflitos socioambientaisÁreas protegidasMediação de conflitosTurismo e mediação de conflitos socioambientais em unidades de conservação no AmapáTourism and socio-environmental conflicts: challenges and possibilities of mediation in the development of tourism activities in protected areas of AmapádoctoralThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::TURISMO
