Methodology: A cross-sectional study was carried out with 127 students from the city of Santa Cruz-RN, in which socioeconomic variables, access to social media and influential themes were identified. The Body Checking Questionnaire or Male Body Checking Questionnaire, the Dutch Food Behavior Questionnaire and the Silhouetted Figures Scale were used. The data were analyzed in the SPSS 21.0 software by the t-test of independent samples, chi-square and Fisher's exact tests, considering 95% confidence. Results: Statistical significance was found in the relationships between nutritional status versus aesthetic status (p = 0.019), income versus esthetics (p = 0.034), income versus healthy eating (p = 0.031), sex versus general news and classification of nutritional status by body mass index versus general news (p = 0.001). The instagram leads the level of access involving social media with the themes "aesthetics, healthy eating and general news", which show moderate to very "influential".
