Despite this recommendation, the incidence of cesarean section is increasing in several countries, and is not different in Brazil. In the context of the Maternity Leide Morais (Natal / RN), it was observed that although this service has prepartum, delivery and postpartum suites, favorable environments to stimulate normal delivery, delivery at the institution still represents a high index cesarean section. Thus, taking into account what is recommended by the World Health Organization and based on the observations made in the service, the aim was to develop the present intervention, focusing on the importance of the need for humanization in childbirth and the use of methods nonpharmacological pain relief for the parturient. The aim of the intervention is to implement the use of pelvic balance, which is considered one of the non-pharmacological methods for pain relief for assisted parturients during labor. For implementation in the service, an extension course was held in three moments, in order to sensitize managers and train the nursing team, addressing the importance of the method, in addition to the elaboration of the standard operating protocol for pelvic balance use and proposal for restoration of equipment that is in poor condition in that service. After the training, there was a change of the team on the importance of the horse to the laboring woman in labor, as well as being more encouraged to offer this non-pharmacological method of pain relief.
