However, often this follow-up is guided by the biomedical model in which it is comes down summarized in the resolution of clinical complaints and family members are treated as mere receivers of information from the guidelines given by health professionals. Objective: To understand through the Brazilian literature the perception of the family in child follow-up. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review conducted a search of the databases Scientific Library Online (SciELO), Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) during the months October to November 2020. Results: It was observed that the families were unaware of the term and the importance of monitoring the children's CD, children were only taken to appointments when they were sick, gave greater preference to medical care and disregard of the professionals to the reports of family members during consultations.
