This study is an integrative review of the literature. The data search occurred during the month of May and June of 2019 in the following databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), Latin American and Caribbean System of Information in Sciences (LILACS), and in the BDENF - Nursing. As a result, 12 studies were analyzed, which were grouped into two categories: Strategies for teaching SBV for laymen and the Impact of training for SBV for lay people. The formation of the laity takes place through theoretical classes, practical classes, distance learning courses, Youtube videos, problem-based learning, and a diverse audience. The formation of the laity is still insipient but, the capacities allowed theoretical and practical assimilation of the theme.
