Predição de suicídio em hospitais gerais: uma revisão bibliográfica. 2018. 20f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Medicina) – Departamento de Medicina, Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. Natal, RN, 2018.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/41588Every forty seconds a person commits suicide in the world. It is estimated that by 2020 this figure could increase to one death every 20 minutes. In Brazil, the suicide rate increased to 21% between 1985 and 2005. The study aimed to evaluate the available evidence in the literature on the prediction of suicide in general hospital in the world in the year 2012 to 2017 and to describe the articles inherent to the theme that composes the synthesis matrix of the present article. This was a bibliographical review using the Virtual Health Library to select articles that are inherent to the proposed theme. In the search it was verified the prediction of suicide in 15 articles (100%) selected in the Medline 7 database (46.66%). Suicides committed in Latin America, 5 (33.33%) were in North America, 2 (13.33%) were in Oceania and 1 (6.66%) were in Europe. It is understood that the prediction of suicide in a general hospital in these countries needs urgent intervention. Results: more recent research evaluated 50 patients who attempted 96% (n = 48) sleep variability as an acute alert signal of suicidal ideation in a longitudinal assessment of young adults at high risk of suicide and obtained through a historical of suicide attempt the following mean values of the actigraphy revealed objectively altered sleep parameters; 78% (n=39) and 36% (n=18) endorsed insomnia and clinically significant nightmares, respectively, and when outcomes were controlled for depressive and suicidal depressive symptoms, the actigraphic and subjective sleep parameters predicted residual change scores in suicidal ideation in 7 and 21-day follow-ups (P<0.001). It is hoped that this article will provide knowledge and stimulate new research in Brazil with emphasis on prediction of suicide in general hospitals with the application of scores and questioners so that the population with suicidal ideation can leave this situation of sadness of the inner being and can live with physical and mental health preserved.
