The research is quantitative in nature, with an exploratory approach, and data were collected through a questionnaire applied to 46 accountants working in Natal, Brazil. The results show that most professionals recognize the benefits of technology in automating routine tasks, increasing efficiency, and transforming the accountant's role into a more analytical and strategic function. However, challenges were also identified, such as the need for continuous professional development and the partial risk of task replacement. The analysis revealed that skills such as technological proficiency, analytical thinking, strategic vision, and interpersonal abilities are considered essential for the future of the profession.
