In Brazil, there is no generic instrument aimed at children and adolescents with any chronic respiratory conditions, including the less prevalent ones. The Brazilian version of the Pediatric Rating of Self-Efficacy (PRCISE-Br) is a cross-culturally adapted instrument originated for this purpose. Objective: To evaluate the reliability and convergent and discriminant validity of the PRCISE-Br. Methods: Exploratory methodological study approved by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Trairí (FACISA) – Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), opinion No. 6,061,966. Volunteers aged 7 to 18 years diagnosed with asthma or cystic fibrosis were included. Data were analyzed by SPSS considering p < 0.05. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), PRCISE-Br scores, Perceived General Self-Efficacy Scale (PGS), Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory™ (PedsQL™ 4.0) and number of hospitalizations in the last 12 months were used for reliability and correlation analyses. Results: Eighty volunteers participated, 42 males, with a median age of 10 years. The PRCISE-Br had a median of 124 points and a positive and moderate correlation with the PGS (Rho = 0.520, p = 0.001) and Peds-QL (Rho = 0.601, p = 0.001). The number of hospitalizations variable showed a negative and weak correlation (Rho = -0.249; p = 0.026) with the PRCISE-Br. The ICC value was 0.863. Conclusion: PRCISE-Br presented reliable and valid measures, being qualified for use in Brazil.Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/3.0/br/Estudo de validaçãoAutoeficáciaDoenças respiratóriasCriançaAdolescenteAvaliação da confiabilidade e validade da versão brasileira do Pediatric Rating of Chronic Illness Self-efficacy (PRCISE-Br)Evaluation of the reliability and validity of the brazilian version of the Pediatric Rating of Chronic Illness Self-Efficacy (PRCISE-Br)bachelorThesis
