This is a descriptive field research, of a qualitative nature, carried out in October 2022, with six women from the assigned area of two Basic Health Units, in the municipality of Santa Cruz-RN. Data were collected using the focus group technique, transcribed in full and analyzed using content analysis. Four categories emerged from the thematic content analysis. Feelings such as sadness, guilt, fear, frustration and dream interruptions are related to the experience of abortion for the woman and her family. Health care for women in the process of abortion is identified as fragile in the reception and in the environment offered during the removal of the conceptus. Faced with a new pregnancy, women feel insecure and afraid, despite this they were willing to continue to carry the pregnancy.
