Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Bacharelado em Geografia), Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/62240This study consists of assessing birth and infant mortality rates in the city of Natal between 2010 and 2023, with the aim of detailing the main elements that end up impacting these indicators and what their implications are for regional development. The research was based on the use of the quantitative method, using data from the Ministry of Health (DATASUS) and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), through graphs and tables. Some topics were analyzed, such as the type of delivery in Natal, the mother's age at birth, the mother's marital status, infant deaths due to neoplasms, and deaths due to congenital anomalies. Based on this information, it was possible to establish parameters, comparing with other regions of Brazil. It was possible to report in this study the socioeconomic factor in Natal with regard to basic sanitation, as well as health factors, aiming to promote better prenatal care for mothers. At the end of this study, it is possible to list, through the data on Natal, what are the impacts, challenges, and perspectives for regional development.
