The municipality of Santa Cruz is a pioneer in Brazil in receiving the population survey using the MDS-Brasil, configuring the originality of the study. Objective: To analyze the profile of functionality and disability in adults and elderly people in the city of Santa Cruz-RN, using the summarized version of the MDS-Brasil. Methods: This is a cross-sectional observational survey, involving 504 participants, through home interviews. People aged 18 or over, both sexes, with or without disabilities, with or without formal education, residing in the municipality of Santa Cruz were included. In data collection, the instrument was applied in the comprehensive version and then the data belonging to the summarized version were extracte. Results: The sample studied consists mainly of female Brazilian individuals, aged between 25 and 59 years, belonging to brown color, with partners and complete high school. Regarding health, most participants classified it as moderate, with social support considered a facilitator by the population. In addition, the most prevalent health conditions were systemic arterial hypertension and anxiety, requiring a high demand for personal assistance and a low need for the use of assistive devices.
