As part of efforts to contain the spread of this disease, several governments around the world, including Brazil, have implemented social isolation. Although this distancing measure has brought significant benefits in the short term, social isolation has also brought to light alarming indicators regarding violence against women. That said, this article aims to analyze the impact of such a measure on the issue of violence against women in Brazil, particularizing the analysis of this reality in the municipality of Currais Novos-RN, and to map the initiatives developed by the public authorities to combating domestic and family violence against women in this context. From the point of view of the method, its foundation was anchored in historical materialism, with gender relations, patriarchy and violence against women as necessary categories for understanding the problem. Regarding the methodology, it is a quantitative-qualitative research, which used a bibliographical survey and secondary data as research techniques. The results point to the relevance of research on violence against women in the context of the pandemic, especially when considering the particularity of inland municipalities, such as Currais Novos-RN, where coping networks are often fragile. Thus, the research indicates that social isolation exacerbated these vulnerabilities, particularly regarding underreporting. Although some progress was made, many of the initiatives launched during the pandemic ended with its conclusion.
