With this in mind, this article aims to explore the application of Transformational Leadership Theory at the Rio Grande do Norte Water and Sewage Company (CAERN). In the context of CAERN, this approach can promote a culture of responsibility, autonomy and innovation, improving productivity and organisational commitment. Methodologically, questionnaires were administered to 40 employees and secondary materials already published in journals and scientific papers were consulted. The article analyses how transformational leaders can positively influence water resource management, contributing to the sustainable development of the region. It also discusses the challenges and opportunities of implementing such leadership in a public sector, highlighting the importance of a strategic vision and example as essential tools for success.
