This paper quantifies the number of publications over the periods and seeks to identify the research areas of development using DEA in petroleum engineering and characterize the situation in Brazil. A major goal is to demonstrate the efficiency or inefficiency verified from confrontational variables (inputs / outputs). The DEA began the work undertaken by Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes in 1978, which was based on the work of Farrell (1957). The evolution of DEA modeling, the large number of published articles can prove both in its theoretical aspects and in its applications. However, in the petroleum engineering, production is still incipientPesquisa operacionalEngenharia do petróleoAnálise envoltória de dadosModelagem DEA: teoria e aplicações na indústria do petróleoDEA modeling: theory and applications in the oil industryarticle
