Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Práticas de Saúde e Educação) - Escola de Saúde, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/54513Introduction: the assessment of people with chronic wounds, nowadays called complex or difficult to heal, requires a careful look from health professionals, especially from nursing, with a view to minimizing the repercussions. For this, it is essential to use educational, problematizing strategies that favor the safe and effective management of different types of wounds. Nurses and nursing technicians report having superficial knowledge on the subject, which implies broader healing processes, financial burden, lower bed turnover and greater risk of infection. Objective: to structure a training course for nursing professionals regarding the clinical management of difficult-to-heal wounds. Methodological path: this is a qualitative research of the field study type. The research took place at the University Hospital Onofre Lopes, in the year 2022, between the months of June and October. The study population consisted of nurses and nursing technicians who assist people with wounds in hospitalization units. Data were analyzed based on the precepts of content analysis, in the thematic modality, proposed by Laurence Bardin. Results: 13 nursing professionals participated in this study, predominantly women, nursing technicians, who work the day shift and are between 30 and 35 years old. Two chapters were presented: 1) The clinical management of wounds that are difficult to heal by nursing professionals; 2) Proposal for a course plan for the clinical management of difficult-toheal wounds. In the first chapter, it was evidenced that fragmented continuing education, lack of knowledge about inputs and their proper use, reduced personnel sizing allied to non-participatory management are difficult factors for fluidity in the management of people with wounds. In this context, the participants recognized that it was fundamental to deepen their knowledge on the subject in order to improve the quality of the assistance offered. In the second chapter, a proposal for a course plan was prepared for professionals who manage wounds that are difficult to heal, with a view to encouraging the acquisition of skills and abilities necessary for caring for people with wounds. Conclusion: the present study showed several weaknesses and strengths in the process of managing difficult-to-heal wounds. It is hoped, with the results found and with the structuring of the training course, a product of this research, to transform the professionals' performance scenario, to benefit the person with a wound with an increase in the quality of the care offered, to optimize processes and reduce costs.
