Access to social benefits plays a crucial role in ensuring food security by improving the availability and quality of food. This study aimed to assess the dietary consumption of a low-income population served by public social assistance facilities in the State of Rio Grande do Norte (RN). To achieve this, a descriptive, cross-sectional, and prospective study was developed. Dietary consumption was assessed through a 24-hour recall, and the results were analyzed based on the recommendations for macronutrients and micronutrients from the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs). The study included 54 individuals, with a higher prevalence of women (89%), an average age of 48 years ± 12.44, and 63% receiving Bolsa Família benefits. The results of macronutrient distribution showed adequacy within the Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Ranges (AMDR), but likely inadequacy in the intake of calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, vitamins A, D, C, and B12, as well as fiber.
