They often skip meals such as breakfast, or replace meals such as lunch for snacks; in addition they consume, with high frequency, large quantities of soft drinks. The high intake of caloric and processed foods of poor nutritional value is noteworthy, considering that such consumption has been linked to obesity not only because for the volume of food, but also for the composition and quality of the diet. This type of dietary changes qualitatively and quantitatively order observed in all regions of Brazil, as well as in various parts of the world, characterize the nutritional transition: they are the results of sociocultural, economic, individual and behaviourial processes.In this sense, the objective of this dissertation is to determine the profile of the Food consumption of the Brazilian population aged 10-19 years old, through a variety of food consumption. The basic source of information for the analysis of this study was the Consumer Expenditure Survey – Pesquisa de Orçamentos Familiares (POF) 2009. The methodological instrument used for the implementation of socio-economic profiles was the method Grade of Membership - GoM . The type of food consumption generated three extreme profiles: extreme profile 1 (9.7%) (food consumption deficit by dietary excess) was characterized by the nutritional status of overweight or obesity, for having their meals away from home with a very diverse menu. Profile 2 (16.1%) (food consumption deficit by dietary excess or dietary deficit) without defining the place of food consumption and with a menu composed of carbohydrates, vegetable and animal proteins. The characteristics that predominate in the extreme Profile 3 (3.6%) (food consumption deficit by dietary insufficiency), with nutritional status of low weight; no definition of food consumption site, they eat their meals with a little varied menu. The results showed the type of food consumed by adolescents who have nutritional status of underweight and overweight/obesity.
