Dissertação (Mestrado em Música) - Escola de Música, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2020.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/32695This research seeks to investigate the educational practice of three accordion teachers, all graduates from the Bachelor of Music Education degree offered by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), more specifically with regard to musical initiation through the accordion. It aims to understand the educational processes and their possible relationship with the ideas of music educator Keith Swanwick (1937) and the proposal of the C(L)A(S)P model. To this end, the chosen methodological procedure is the case study, based on documentation, semi-structured interviews, and data analysis. As a theoretical foundation, besides utilizing Keith Swanwick's principles (2003a; 2003b; 2014), support was sought in the works of Yin (2015) and Gil (2009), among others. The research presents a proposal for accordion teaching based on reflections on pedagogical conceptions and the reorganization of ideas and practices. It was found that: there is an emphasis on the use of the internet as a working tool by teachers in accordion classes; teachers hardly worked with children; classes are individual; teachers pointed to the use of old methods or to the development of their own didactic material; it is important to have continued education courses, creation of forums for accordion teachers, besides the formalization of pedagogies of this instrument.
