Data were collected on the Brazilian Scale of Food Insecurity as well as anthropometric status and food consumption of schoolchildren; classified according to the protocols Food and Nutrition Surveillance System. Results: The sample consisted of 342 students. The IA condition was found in 50.7% of the households subdivided into mild AI (32.5%), moderate AI (9.1%) and severe AI (9.1%); and SA (49.3%). There was higher consumption of beans and fruits; 50% of schoolchildren consumed milk and dairy products every day; a regular consumption of sausages, soda, candy and biscuits / crackers and reduced intake of cooked vegetables and raw salads. Regarding the anthropometric status, 69.3% of the individuals presented eutrophy, followed by overweight (17.5%), obesity (8.8%) and low weight (4.1%). There was no association between AI and food consumption and anthropometric status. However, even presenting adequate values of nutritional status, the presence of low weight and obesity should be considered, since they are conditions that may be related to inadequate food intake.
