In this context, it is essential to care for maternal health to ensure the healthy development of the baby, which includes attention to oral health. Literature highlights the influence of maternal oral health, family environment, and practices related to the oral health of children. However, low adherence to prenatal dental consultations by pregnant women is observed, with sociocultural and economic factors, as well as lack of trust from dental surgeons, being identified as contributing factors. Methodology: This is an exploratory, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The population of this study consisted of 10 dental surgeons working in the Basic Health Units in the urban and rural areas of Currais Novos. Data collection occurred in November 2024. An interview guide composed of objective questions was used. The data were organized and described quantitatively in a table, with the help of the Microsoft Office Excel platform. This research was approved by the ethics committee of the Faculty of Health Sciences - FACISA/UFRN with CAAEE 83014324.9.0000.5568. Results: The results indicated that resistance to treatment among pregnant women, combined with low participation from professionals in training on the subject (80%), highlights the need for educational actions and continuous training for professionals, as well as awareness campaigns within the units targeted at pregnant women regarding the importance of dental care during pregnancy.
