Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Odontologia) - Departamento de Odontologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2019.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/39082Introduction: Odontogenic keratocyst is an odontogenic cyst that, despite sharing the same histogenesis of developmental cysts, presents an aggressive clinical behavior. Regarding the lesion, much is discussed about its classification, based on the clinical, radiographic and histological characteristics, previously denominated "Odontogenic Keloid Tumor", according to the WHO, in 2005, but currently reclassified as "Odontogenic Keratocyst". Objective: To analyze and compare the clinical, radiographic and histological characteristics of incisional and excisional biopsies of odontogenic keratocysts and to determine if there are features that predict the prognostic value. Methodology: The study consisted of a cross-sectional retrospective study, and was carried out at the Department of Dentistry of UFRN. The sample of the research were 18 samples of recurrent cases and 20 control cases without previous odontogenic keratocyst recurrence from the archive of the Laboratory of Pathological Anatomy of the Department of Dentistry of UFRN. The data that were collected in the laboratory were tabulated in the Microsoft Office Excel program, containing the personal data of the patients (according to the selected chart), as well as clinical, radiographic and histological characteristics. From this, the statistical analysis was performed, using the McNemar tests for the qualitative variables and the Wilcoxon test for the quantitative variables. Conclusion: It was concluded that satellite cysts and the presence of inflammatory infiltrate are probable prognostic indicators of lesion recurrence, as well as being associated with a less relapse-free time. The radiographic aspects analyzed (unilocular and multilocular pattern) are not a useful tool in the prognosis of odontogenic keratocyst recurrence, as well as the size of the lesion and the treatment instituted.Cistos odontogênicos.Odontogenic cysts.BiópsiaBiopsyRecidivaRelapseAnálise comparativa das características clínicas, radiográficas e histológicas de ceratocistos odontogênicosbachelorThesis
