Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Farmácia) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/64189This study aimed to assess the socioeconomic impact on the quality of life of rheumatologic patients using anti-TNF therapy, assisted by the Specialized Component of Pharmaceutical Assistance (CEAF) in Natal, Brazil. The research was conducted over nine months and included 600 patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. The EQ-5D questionnaire was used to measure participants’ quality of life, along with the collection of sociodemographic data. The results indicate that 71.5% of the patients had low educational attainment, and among them, 89.9% had a household income below three minimum wages. The mean age was 51 years (±14), with a predominance of females (67.3%). Regarding employment status, 9.0% were unemployed, and 3.7% received benefits from the Bolsa Família program. In terms of quality of life, 63% reported moderate to severe pain and discomfort, and 42.3% presented with anxiety and/or depression. Additionally, approximately 50% reported difficulties in performing usual activities, despite being on biological treatment. The study also emphasized the importance of continuous access to medications and the role of public policies in maintaining the quality of life of these patients.
