Frequência de síndrome metabólica em pacientes com infarto agudo do miocárdio. 2022. 32f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Nutrição), Departamento de Nutrição, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/50347Introduction: The Brazilian Society of Cardiology states that cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death in Brazil and consist of a group of changes involving disorders of the heart and blood vessels and ischemic heart disease is responsible for most deaths due to CVD. Metabolic alterations that are risk factors for CVD, such as central obesity, SAH and DM are also diagnostic criteria for Metabolic Syndrome (MS), reinforcing the importance of studying the frequency of MS in people who had AMI. Objectives: To evaluate the frequency of MetS and its association with the length of hospital stay in patients hospitalized due to acute myocardial infarction. Methodology: This is a longitudinal study, which analyzed data from adult and elderly patients, of both genders, until hospital discharge in the period between July 2019 and March 2020, all admitted to the Onofre Lopes University Hospital in Natal/RN, with a diagnosis of AMI. We collected sociodemographic variables, history of chronic noncommunicable diseases, family and personal history of acute myocardial infarction, and anthropometric variables (weight, height, and AC). Results: A total of 146 individuals were evaluated, 28.5% were female. Women had a higher frequency of central obesity than men (92.7% vs 35.2%) and of all other factors related to MS. When time of hospitalization was considered, most (60.2%) of the patients with MetS had longer hospitalization time, but without statistical association. Conclusion: A high frequency of MetS was found in the evaluated patients and the frequency of central obesity, MetS and DM were considerably higher in females than in males, while the prolonged hospitalization time and history of AMI did not show significant differences between the group of patients with and without MetS.Infarto do miocárdioSíndrome metabólicaObesidade abdominalCardiopatia congênitaComorbidadeFrequência de síndrome metabólica em pacientes com infarto agudo do miocárdioFrequency of metabolic syndrome in patients with acute myocardial infarctionFrecuencia del síndrome metabólico en pacientes con infarto agudo de miocardiobachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::NUTRICAO
