Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Pedagogia) - Centro de Educação, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2024.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/59549Maria Montessori's sensory approach has shown great promise for the sensorimotor development of children, given its focus on educating the senses. In light of this, the central objective of this research is to investigate the potential of this approach for children's sensorimotor development, seeking to answer the following question: "How does the emphasis on Maria Montessori's sensory approach favor the sensorimotor development of children?". To this end, we have resorted to theoretical foundations that allow us to understand the sensory approach and identify the mechanisms by which it promotes this development. Methodologically, a qualitative bibliographic approach was adopted, with a review of the existing literature. The research was based on the conceptions of authors such as Maria Montessori (1964; 1987), Philip Ariès (1981), Arroyo (1994), Santos (2023), Cruz and Cruz (2019), and Lillard (2017). The data found evidence that the emphasis on sensory materials, the prepared environment, independence, freedom of choice, and the role of the educator as a facilitating. guide promotes the sensorimotor development of children, contributing to experiences that stimulate sensory integration, autonomous exploration, coordination, proprioception, and protagonism in the learning process. Thus, this study reinforces the relevance of the Montessori sensory approach, as well as encourages its wider adoption and exploration in the Brazilian educational context, aiming to improve the integral development of children.Maria MontessoriMaria Montessoriabordagem sensorialsensorial approachdesenvolvimento sensório-motorsensorimotor developmentAbordagem sensorial de Maria Montessori e seu potencial para o desenvolvimento sensório-motor infantilThe potential of Maria Montessori's sensory approach for children's sensorimotor developmentbachelorThesis
