In this context, digital accounting emerges, transforming traditional methods and promoting greater efficiency and security in daily tasks. This research aims to identify the perception of accounting professionals regarding the importance of technological innovations in enhancing the profession and securing a favorable market position. To achieve this, a questionnaire with open and closed questions was administered to accountants in the municipality of Caicó/RN, yielding 41 responses. Methodologically, the study is classified as descriptive with a qualitative-quantitative approach. The results allow us to conclude that accounting professionals recognize digital accounting and accounting automation as an inevitable and widely integrated reality in their routines. Most already adopt these tools, perceiving more benefits than disadvantages, such as increased operational efficiency and reduced time spent on tasks, creating opportunities to focus on consulting and analytical activities. Additionally, the digital era has contributed to the expansion of knowledge and the scope of work for firms and professionals.
