Acesso em: 16 out. 2020.2525-3621https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/30510The present study aims to analyze and characterize the changes in the socioeconomic profile of engineering students after the implementation of policies of democratization of access adopted by UFRN. Among them, it is the Argument of Inclusion and Law no. 12,711 / 2012, known as the Quota Law. In order to identify changes in the socioeconomic profile of engineering students, five engineering courses were chosen (Civil Engineering, Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Textile Engineering), which offered vacancies in Vestibulares (2005 and 2012) and Sisu (2016), and four variables (type of high school, race / ethnicity, family income and exercise of paid activity), which were representative of the new democratization policies of access, were analyzed. Analyzing these variables, it was concluded that there were significant changes in the socioeconomic profile of the engineering students who entered the UFRN undergraduate courses in 2005, 2012 and 2016. After the adoption of the democratization policies, it is noticed that the engineering courses evaluated present more students from public high schools, black and indigenous students, workers and with family members with monthly income of up to five minimum wages.
