The LGPD, enacted in September 2020, establishes rigorous guidelines for the collection, processing and storage of personal data, with the objective of safeguarding the privacy and integrity of information. The research employs a quantitative approach, in which questionnaires are sent with questions dated for accounting offices in the region, aiming to assess their level of compliance with the LGPD, as well as the challenges encountered in the adoption of legislation. The article begins with a general overview of LGPD and its importance in the context of the operations of the accounting desks. Next, the results of the research based on the questionnaires are presented, highlighting relevant metrics on the level of knowledge, compliance practices and resources allocated to LGPD. These data allow an open analysis of the current situation and trends in legislative adoption in accounting offices of Rio Grande do Norte. The research results indicate significant variations in the level of compliance between the accounting desks. Some demonstrate a high level of awareness and implement robust data protection measures, while others face challenges in implementing and maintaining compliance policies. Questions such as orçamento, personal training and awareness about LGPD emerge as critical points. Based on the data, it was concluded by highlighting the need for continued awareness of LGPD in state accounting offices, as well as the importance of proactive approaches to compliance. Furthermore, recommendations are offered to enhance compliance with the LGPD, including the training of officials, the implementation of data security measures and the search for strategic partnerships to effectively address the challenges of legislation.
