Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Gestão da Informação e do Conhecimento) - Centro de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2018.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/jspui/handle/123456789/26490This work has presented the results of the usability evaluation of Sistema Integrado de Patrimônio, Administração e Contratos (SIPAC), with emphasis on the registration of requests for the purchase of informational material, from the perspective of professors of Centro de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas (CCSA), Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Since SIPAC is the management information system used to operationalize the process of purchasing informational material from the Sistema de Bibliotecas (SISBI), it must be developed with the purpose of meeting users' needs, in addition to following the usability principles. So what are the possible contributions to improve the usability practices of SIPAC in UFRN? The theoretical basis was built according to collections management, usability and information architecture, as well as informational behavior of users. This was a qualitative, quantitative and descriptive case study. The data collection was based on three instruments, such as a questionnaire a usability test, associated with the verbal protocol technique; and a semi-structured interview, applied to the sample of 12 teachers obtained by means of the technique of non-probabilistic sampling for convenience. For the analysis, the instruments were triangulated and basic statistics and content analysis were used with the help of Iramuteq software. Results have pointed to usability barriers that do not help the task. These are: the location of the access link to the registration screen; the lack of information to register new information material, including the lack of organization of information; and finally the language and lack of information in the field of ISBN number. As a consequence of professors' difficulty in overcoming usability barriers and the time required to complete the task, they are not satisfied with the activity. It has considered that the lack of familiarity with SIPAC and perceived difficulties have contributed to professors' dissatisfaction with the system and have led them to not participate in the purchasing process.
